ABOUT

The Student Union Organization  Pre-Law Society was created within the Okanagan with the purpose to provide practical information, materials, and events for prospective law students on campus. We aim to motivate students to pursue their passions for law, while creating a community of support for their endeavors and goals. Our dedicated executive team seeks to foster the development of these individuals as not only prospective lawyers, but as professionals wherever they may go.

FAQ ABOUT LAW SCHOOL

How does this even work?

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET INTO LAW SCHOOL?

There are three main parts of any law school application.

1) The applicant must have a competitive GPA. Higher is always better. Individual schools can usually provide information about minimum thresholds.

2) Every law school in Canada requires applicants to write the LSAT. The test is used as a predictor of ones success in the legal field.

3) 'Soft Factors', which include things like involvement in the community, or on campus (Like Pre-Law), work experience, and  variety of factors. Every school values these differently, and some not at all. They should not be considered a substitute for a strong GPA and LSAT score.

WHAT IS THE LSAT
?

LSAT Stands for Law School Admissions Test. It is a standardized test made up of six 35 minute sections, five multiple choice, and six written.

The LSAT is designed to test three areas; Reading comprehension, Logical Reasoning, and Analytical reasoning.

The LSAT is not a knowledge test, it is not designed to test your knowledge of the law. The test is designed to assess ones general analytical abilities.

CAN I STUDY LAW AT UBCO?

Unfortunately not, UBCO does not have a law program at this time. However, the Vancouver campus is home to one of the most prestegious legal institutions in the country, Allard schoolof Law.
